The big focus this year is the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
The EU is the Official Partner Region for the 2026 edition, while India's Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has extended support.
Germany's Vice Minister Martina Englhardt-Kopf said, "The India-EU FTA is an economically significant milestone, creating a market of around two billion people." She said it will liberalise 99.3% of EU trade and 96.6% of India's trade value, opening doors for German processed foods in India and Indian products like tea, coffee, spices and fishery products in Europe.
Netherlands State Secretary Silvio Erkens highlighted the long-standing Indo-Dutch partnership in agriculture, while EU Trade Head Petros Sourmelis said the FTA is likely to be signed by end-2026.
Joint Secretary, MoFPI, Devesh Deval said India's food market is worth $550-600 billion and growing at 6-7% CAGR. "Food processing is the second-highest employment creator in manufacturing," he said, adding that the government is setting up a Centre of Excellence on pea protein at NIFTEM, Kundli.
For Indian and global companies, the message is clear: a $689 billion food sector is opening up for export, investment and technology partnerships.
